Cremated Remains, Ocean Reef Placement
Underwater Ocean Memorial Reefs are concrete artificial reef sections containing cremation urns that are placed on the ocean floor.
They are constructed on land. Sealed urns containing cremated remains are placed into the reef sections. Once the reef section is complete and at full capacity, it is lowered to the ocean floor at a specific location. In a short time, the artificial reef is teeming with sea life.
These memorial reefs combine the ancient burial-at-sea tradition with the modern interest in the environment.
